a short story-The Rabbit

A short story-The rabbit

One day when we where going to Cape Town.We saw a rabbit sitting in front of the door eating a carrot and its was beautiful. It was white and brown, the eyes where black and it was lost.So we stopped the car and we went to the rabbit came closer to me and it was so lonely all by its self.I asked my parents can i take the rabbit for me and they said yes.I was so happy and we called him Bunny. We stoped by a pet shop and bought him something to eat.

We made a room for bunny and the room was full of carrots and painted the room orange.Every time i wake up in the morning i go check on him and give him food and water.Bunny liked to play but sometimes he was shy when he sees people. He always waked me up every morning and he always wants to follow me when i go to school. He was very quiet when he sees people and it he hides way.I always try to talk to him when I’m lonely and
alone by the house.

We had a great time on Easter with Bunny and we bought lots of Easter eggs.We went to the sea with Bunny and we had lots of fun there. We dressed him like a Easter bunny he looked so cute on it.Every holiday we travelled with Bunny we even toke him to the doctor when he is sick.We had a great day with him.

depression

Depression is "an illness, that involves your body, your mood and your thoughts. Some people have different forms of depression,I may not know the different forms of depression but I have heard about it and that it is a very serious problem.16% of South African people suffer from depression.

As a teenager I also went through this,my mom fell ill and I did not know what I would do without her as a result of that I started too become sad and angry at myself. I suffered a lot because I did not talk to anyone about it because I was to scared to do so,I worried to much and bottled it up inside and became ill.I did not eat for days on end and my family members started to worry. They talked to me and told me that everything would be okay.

And in the end everything was fine,my mom is now happy and healthy and I'm happy now I got over my depression.Talk is the best!

DEPRESSI0N
Depression is a illness, that involves, your mood and your thoughts. I was once depression when my dearest grandmother passed on, I was left with wonders because i didn't even have a chance to say goodbye. For me it was not the same as ordinary, everyday blues or sadness that we all feel sometimes. I was really depressed and couldn't pull myself together again.
The kind of depression that I was having was a major depression, I felt very sad and down most of the time and affected my school work and sleeping and even lost my normal body weight.
But after all I told myself to let her rest in peace,it is not the end of the world atleast Iearnt alot from her. GOD goes every thing for a purpose...

depression

Depression is an illness that involves your body, your mood and your thoughts. When you depressed you usually feel sad.

As a teenager I have been through this before, for some time my family went through personal issues and this really depressed me.As a result I avoided my friends and I always wanted to be alone. This caused me not to eat for some time.Eventually I thought that doing all these things was not gonna help me so I talked to my sister in law. She encouraged me and after a few weeks I was back to my old self.

Talking to someone really helps because bottling up your problem only makes things worse.

depressive work situations

I know it is not good to complain rather one should deal with the matter. What can then one do when you see the situation and you try to bring suggestions for the matter to be sorted out but all your attempts are in vain or fall to deaf ears?

All that I am trying to say is that you wake up early in the morning , eager to work at school or you open school from short September school holidays you again so refreshed eager to work, when you come to school photocopy machines are not working in such a big school like Mary Waters I mean that is frustrating and lead to depression. At our school we've got some few copy machines but the ones that are suppose to be used by the teachers are always not working.

There are many depressive issues many of us are still faced with overcrowded classes where you end up have to mark about +- 200 scripts and you still have to do other school work I mean no leisure time that is why some of us end up abusing alcohol but I do not encourage that. Teaching profession for some of us is a slave work I will never encourage my child to opt for it. No incentive, nothing that encourages teachers, to make things worse we are faced with learners that can do whatever they feel like doing, few have respect for the adults.

It is not like in the olden days, these are few things that I have mentioned there are a lot. Its depressing.

drugs

Scheepers Levirn & Booysen Chantel

Drugs are harmful to the body, and causes damage to the brain.drugs make people do crazy things and steal things from their families and other people around them. Drugs make people do bad things e.g. kill, rape and changes a persons eating habits and his/her attitude. A person also loses a lot of weight .and your relationship towards people will change.

Drugs could kill you if you overdose yourself,it damages your internal organs e.g.liver,brain,lungs,your skin etc.

People who stay around people who use drugs should help them or send them to rehab, they are also people so care about them don’t make them feel left out.Dont give them money to buy the drugs that they use to get high.

People, should look out for the signs of drug usage and prevent them, prevention is better then cure!

healthy eating habits

Luvo Chrisjan and Chevandria Maerman

In order to live a healthy lifestyle you should eat more like a vegetarian and don't eat junk food and always exercise.

Eating fruits and vegetables will give you the minerals you need in order to stay healthy and making sure that you drink about 7 glasses of water per day will increase your metabolism.

Exercise will keep you strong and fit.The more you exercise the healthier you stay which means that you will probably live long, and it will prevent you from getting certain illnesses.

Stay away from acids and things that contain fat in it.

Im a New person Running and a positive outlook on things has changed my life forever!

Mary Waters High School had the privilege and opportunity to listen to two hardcore runners from Grahamstown talking to the learners about their previous back grounds of growing up in the wrong doings being on the opposite side of the law and how running and living a better life has changed them to who they are today.

First up to deliver his speech was Malibongwe known to people as Meli. He started off his talk by telling the learners to keep the body and mind fresh, you have to exercise, never take a taxi but walk were you want to go.

Keep away from bad things like drugs and drinking because if you drink you go in the streets and get stabbed in the stomach. Do sport to keep yourself busy, stay active, get fit and be healthy. The learners were very amazed by what Meli had to say. The learners also ask questions of when he started running and if he got involved in bad things when he was at school? He said he started running at the age of 8 and ran until the age of 17, before he started got caught up in the bad things teenagers do at that age, doing drugs, stealing and drinking. He turned his life around after a caring teacher took him under his wings and helped him to be a better person and developing his talent and love for running. Meli then ended off his talk by telling the learners to keep away from bad things, to live their lives crime free and to be the better person than the bad ones!

Next up was Lionel from Scotch Farm, also a well known runner coming from a very harsh and tough background. He turned his life around a few years ago and began his passion for running. He is currently a newspaper deliver man selling the local newspaper at the flyover near Kingswood.

Lionel started his talk by introducing himself as the œfamous man from Scottsfarm In a very serious note he started telling the learners how he was a hard criminal robbing people breaking into houses and how he spend 20 years in and out of jail. Ending his education at the age of 8 and never ever went back to school to learn how to write or read and while in jail he lost both his parents.

He told the learners he had no family and food was extremely scarce in the Max prison were he was and Christmas times were very lonely for him with no one visiting him in jail. Life in prison was very harsh and cruel and he was always beaten up. He love for running started in jail were he ran in a little section for two hours to keep he stress away.

When he was released from prison he never knew he picked up TB in the prison and was only told by the clinic about his disease when he went for a check up. When he found out he had TB he just wanted to die, telling learners how he locked himself up for three days in his room for no one to find him so that he could release he pain and just die! A Rhodes student then came to his rescue, kicking down the door. The student found Lionel lying on a cold wet floor on the verge of death. The volunteer took Lionel under his wing and took him to a hospital were he was treated for TB.

I was very sick, he said œand was extremely thin. I ate my treatment, doctors took care of me and fed me well to pick up weight. My legs were also as thin as little sticks. By this time A lot of emotion was whelming up in Lionel and tears started streaming down his face as he spoke from the heart about his past.

A lot of prayer and faith in God to give him a second chance made him better. When he was better stronger and cured from his TB he turned to running and started training for his first 5km fun run. Running turned my life around and I realized there are so much better things in life than stealing, being locked up in jail and picking up diseases like TB

Lionel is now leading a good and healthy life,Im the best running against myself Im a proud paper boy selling the Grocott's Mail newspaper twice a week. I get wages and buy myself fruit and veggies!

Lionel ended off his talk by telling the learners to œkeep on learning, keep away from bad things and be a proud young person, a positive example for other school goers. The learners were filled with emotion wiping away tears after this heart felt talk delivered by Lionel The Famous man from Scotts Farm

issues effecting me and how i deal with them

Issues effecting me and how i deal with them
My issues are sometimes effecting some people because i take out my issues out of them and i regret later. Some people do not talk to me and some take theirs out of me.People that i take my issues out of them are my most beloved ones and when i heart they do not talk to me for few days or weeks until i have dealt with my issues.

The way i deal with my issues is to write them or talk to someone maybe a loved one that is going to understand and is going to explain or i should deal with them in which way.The way i dealt with my issues i told myself that talking with people that i love the way i talk to them is not going to get me nowhere. And i told myself that am going to go and see someone maybe a someone that is important in my life and said sorry to the people that i have heart for them to forgive me.

letter to the minster of education

MARY WATERS SECONDARY SCHOOL
6139
GRAHAMSTOWN

DEAR: SIR/MADAM

NEED MORE TEACHERS AT MARY WATERS

I am a grade 9 student from Mary Waters in Grahamstown I know I'm suppose to be jolly happy about not having teachers and free periods but without any teachers I'm dead meat I will fail and will not get my dream of going to grade10 and learning other subjects other than 9 basic subjects which we have been learning for over 6 years now.

If these were your children you would not be happy to see them not learn and do nothing, or for them to just sit around and not learn. For some children this is a nice feeling no teachers and free periods

We don't like marching to your offices and making noise we just want the right to education that is our right of course,we were given the right to learn freedom of speech and ask anything because its our right now we ask for just 8 more teachers to learn we don't want this we need this because where would we go without education, nowhere because we wouldn't get jobs or feed our families(not that I have kids or anything) just 8 more and its vamoosh with us.

Your truly
Mary Waters student

LIfe have its ups and downs

Be careful with the choices that you make today because it can affect your future. E.g staying away from school and you end up dropping out, at first it will be nice because you still living with your parents, getting everything. now your parents passes away what are you going to do? where are you going to live? where are you going to get food to eat? because obviously you won't be working. what are going to do?

So I advice you to take life seriously because life can be so cruel. And appreciate what you have and what your parents is giving you at the moment because they wont do things for you forever.

my thaughts about the anti-littering project

my thaughts about the anti-littering project to me i think this project will maybe help with the littering so that there could be less littering....and am very excited to do this project because i will also teach people in my street and my family not to litter and this project will also teach me not to litter am also excited about
the outings that we will be doing in this project...it will teach the children in my school when we do something about littering in front of them that littering is not good for our environment....because they domt know that......the other thing am excited about is that this project will keep me busy and have something important to do after school and it is important for us to know that littering is not good.....

By: Olwethu Lukwe on February 5th 2013 02:44 [0 comments]

my thought about anti littering

ndicinga intoba siza wuza ne black plastic bags siqale ngo klina isikolo sethu.emvakwalonto ne environment yethu ihlale icocekile ngalolonke ixesha.and enye into endicingba sizawyenza siza kwenza ne drama emalungana ne environment yethu sibonisa abantu ba funeke indawu esihlala kuyo ihlale icocekile ukuze sizo phila kwi environment efresh and clean.

My thought about antilittering

Iam excited to be in this project because we going to act and sing dance and do drama and join science festival and we also be in rhodes and study some project about antilittering finding more about littering.

By: Sindiswa Mayi on February 5th 2013 12:43 [0 comments]

my thoughts about the anti-littering project

,My thoughts about the anti-littering project are seeing children at school making a different in their
homes and community.I think we should not litter in the school grounds or in the dams and rivers because the animals can die, also human beings because some people who don't have taps in their homes and drinks water from the rivers and factories around the community even hospitals so my message to the people in all community is that don't litter around the community the factories and the hospitals or it will kill the community, the people, the children and the animals that are there in the world it also causes death to the that are littering in the community and people that litters in rivers or in the dams they must stop littering in the rivers, dams, environment, factories and hospitals it will kill the environment and it will also kill the community.I just want to say to those people that are around the world that we must not litter around even in every community in every world.

By: Yamkela Ntshoko on February 5th 2013 12:42 [0 comments]

my thoughts anti littering

i think i am gonna make a big difference in school i well tell them they must stop throeing papers around. If I tell them they would still throw around, at least if there are other forces pushing awareness they would perhaps listen.

pollution

Chad Paulsen and Chanel Duiker

CAUSES OF POLLUTION
Pollution is caused by toxic waste such as dumping of chemicals and waste material.Pollution can affect the health of people and children.Pollution can also be caused by car exhaust/engines and the smoke gas pollutes the environment on it.

The effects that pollution has on the environment are very critical and harmful to human nature as well has animals and people. We can also pollute the water by throwing rubbish in dams, seas, lakes and rivers. The major problem in the sea life is caused by oil spills of ships.

SOLUTION
To prevent pollution people could stop the dumping of waste material.Signs should be put up and people should start working together as a community to prevent health risks and keeping their environment safe. They should start an organization to recycle waste the waste material.

Pollution is a serious cause and should be kept in mind.

TO THE MINSTER OF EDUCATION

Mary Waters Secondary School
Grahamstown
Eastren Cape

Dear Sir/Madam

Report about the shortage of teachers in our school

Since last year we have been having a problem of teacher shortage(2012).Which left us with a very poor pass rate. For this reason we all had to cut school and march to the DOE, till the last breath.

Our martch had all the schools Nombulelo,Nyaluza and Mary Waters from one block to another block singing, running and scream so our voices could be hard.So we got to the Department of Education but it was as if we were mouth folded we lost hope when it came to school.

In the middle of the year we got two teachers for English and Technology .We had every thing going from books to pens every thing. But again this year still the same story 11 teachers short, luckely we still got 3 teachers and they dont teach all of the children and that leaves us with 8 teachers short Nombulelo(6) Nyaluza(5)

WE ARE IN A TERRABLE SITUATION

UTHOTHO LWEZIKOLO ZAZERHINI ZIJONGWE KUKUVALWA

Kukho into ebuhlungu, ekhangeleka ibuqheleka yezikolo zasezilokishini apha eRhini ezisecicini lokuvalwa. Iba lusizi mpela ke xa ucinga ukuba ledolophu idlale indima enkulu kwimfundo yomntu omnyama apha eMzantsi Afrika. INathaniel Nyaluza ne-Andrew Moyakhe zezinye zezikolo ezidala kwiphondo leMpumakoloni.

Kungumdla ukwazi ukuba, ngokungaphandle nje kweNombulelo, ezizikolo zithiywe ngamagama abantu ekucaca ukuba babedlale indima enkulu kumphakathi mandulo. Umzekelo, iMakana ithiywe NgoNxele owayeyimboni edume kakhulu kwinkulungwane yeshumi elinesithoba.

I-Andrew Moyakhe, i-Benjamin Mahlasela neMakana zingabe sezivaliwe kungekudala ngoba azinambizane kubafundi. Mhlawumbi ke yindlela ukuguquka kwendalo okuhamba ngayo, kodwa ezizikolo zinomnombo obaluleke kakhulu kuthi.

Nangona ingekho mngciphekweki wokuvalwa iMary Waters, kodwa ibixhomekeke kubafundisi-ntsapho bethutyana abathe banyanzeleka ukuba bemnke. Kulusizi ukubona ukuba siyasokola ngenxa yokungakhathali kweSebe lezeMfundo.

Uninzi lwethu, nkqu nam, asiyazi imvela-phi yalamagama ezizikolo zithiywe ngawo. Mna ndaqala ukuba nomdla ngosuke ndisebenzele uMbutho wabaMeli beLali ndanyanzeleka ukuba ndihambele ezizikolo. Mhlawumbi ukuba besinolwazi, besiyakudlala indima ebonakalayo ekuzilondolozeni.

Ndibhekisa phi ngayo yonke lentshwaqane? Endifun' ukutsho kukuba ayizozikolo zabantwana bethu kuphela ezi, koko uninzi lwethu - ndithetha abo bakhulele apha eRhini - baafunda kwezizikolo nabo. Kunganjani ukuba sinokusebenzisana ekuqulungqeni, sishicelele lomnombo wazo kunye nabo zithiywe ngabo? UKUBA UNOMDLA UNGAYA KWI-FORUMS ZAKWA-AWARENET APHO UYAKUFUMANA ENYE ETHETHA NGAMAGAMA EZIKOLO
